Oracle is continuing to expand data-center infrastructure for AI demand, while its projects supporting OpenAI reportedly face licensing and regulatory hurdles. Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) told the World Knowledge Forum in Seoul that accelerating demand from AI and data centers is increasing the need for new sources of firm power. The company is building its SPARC demonstration facility in Massachusetts and plans a first commercial ARC plant in Virginia, targeting grid connection in the early 2030s.
Microsoft is reportedly considering expanding its global portfolio of owned and long-term leased data-center capacity from about 12 GW today to more than 38 GW by 2032, as Azure capacity remains constrained by AI demand. The figure is not an official Microsoft target and would depend on project delivery, permitting and power availability.
